Collection: The Art of Drawing
Drawing has always been at the heart of my work. I love the simplicity of it — a pencil, a piece of paper, and an idea beginning to take shape.
Some drawings begin as studies of anatomy, movement or character. Others are a way of searching for a painting: moving animals through a composition, changing gestures and points of view, exploring relationships between shapes until something begins to emerge.
There is a freedom in drawing that I love. I can follow an idea quickly, abandon it, change it, or take it much further than I originally intended. Sometimes a working sketch becomes the beginning of a large painting. Sometimes the drawing itself becomes the finished work.
For me, drawing is both craft and exploration. It is where I study, think, experiment, and continue developing the visual language behind my paintings.
Created in graphite and charcoal, these original works on paper range from exploratory studies to more developed finished drawings.
Below is a glimpse into that process, from the first marks on the paper to a completed drawing.
