Sacred Paw
36×36 – Oil on Linen
A solitary grizzly sits quietly in the winter landscape, bathed in the warm light of a northern sky.
There is no drama here. No charge, no threat, no display of strength.
Instead, the bear occupies the landscape with complete confidence. Still and self-possessed, it becomes a symbol of presence, resilience, and quiet authority.
The contrast between the luminous golden fur and the cool winter snow creates a sense of warmth within the wilderness, while the distant treeline anchors the bear within its northern home.
Sacred Paw reflects a recurring theme throughout Virginie Baude’s work: the wild not as something separate from us, but as a reminder of qualities we recognize within ourselves—strength, awareness, patience, and belonging.
