Bison in Contemporary
36 × 48 — Oil on Linen
A solitary bison moves across a landscape reduced to light, color, and atmosphere.
Rather than placing the animal within a detailed setting, Bison in Contemporary focuses on the essence of its presence. Rich golds, warm earth tones, and luminous oranges dissolve the boundaries between subject and environment, allowing the power of the animal to emerge through paint itself.
The massive shoulder, lowered head, and deliberate stride convey the quiet authority that has made the bison one of North America’s most enduring symbols of strength and resilience.
Balancing realism with expressive brushwork, the painting explores the relationship between traditional wildlife art and contemporary interpretation. The result is both timeless and modern—a celebration of one of the continent’s most iconic animals.
